Keyword Manager Now Helps You Build a Semantic Core in a Click
June 16, 2023
Keyword research is so much fun that the hours can just slip by…until you see the time. You should’ve been working on something else hours ago and now the day is almost over.
Deadlines are approaching fast. Fear not!
It now includes two new reports (a Clusters report and Mind Map report) that can help you:
Build a site’s semantic core (its main target keywords)
Cluster keywords for pillar pages
Plan pillar page subtopics
What We Added in Keyword Manager
With this update, we can now create a list of clusters in Keyword Manager based on the seed keywords you picked.
If the keywords have similar results in the top 10 results of their search engine results pages (SERPs), we combine them into a cluster.
Your clusters will be groups of keywords that can rank well together with one page of a website. Targeting clusters instead of singular keywords can make your content strategy more effective and bring more traffic.
This is what a set of clusters might look like based on 3 seed keywords in the Mind Map:
You can also take existing lists of up to 2,000 keywords and cluster them in the Mind Map.
In the Clusters report, you can see the specific keywords we grouped together. Below, the “family things to do in kentucky” cluster has 8 keywords:
“Family things to do in Kentucky” would be the main keyword. Then, the keywords below work as the page’s subtopics.
You can also use this report to find clusters that’ll work for your site once you develop content.
A cluster with a high-ranking potential is a group that has a perfect intersection of keyword difficulty to volume.
Look for New Updates in the Future
This update only applies to the US database (and to those with a paid subscription). We plan on updating our non-US databases in the next few months, so keep an eye out for it.
In the meantime, you can learn more about using Keyword Manager to speed up your keyword research process with our Knowledge Base or blog.
